Arcade Date was an introductory portfolio piece that got me accepted into my degree emphasis. The prompt image — a depressed lamp in a room by itself with a green wall behind it — was all I had to go off of. I wanted to give the lamp a friend, and furthermore a date. One of the most popular first date locations for me over the years has been the arcade inside of the local bowling alley. From there, I decided to put little stickmen inside of the machine, and have one of the lamps holding a plushie that they won previously. In the end, I loved the surrealist vibe that the piece gave off!
Arcade Date was exhibited in the Groundworks Gallery as part of the 2023 First Show Show.
It was also exhibited in the Lionel Rombach Gallery as part of the 2024 Undergraduate Art Show.
